To Cambodia
Quy Nhon – Le Thanh
About 4½–5 hours each way, back the same day.
Pickup in Quy Nhon
Your private car collects you from your home or hotel. On the way, our team explains each step of the border procedure.
Arrive at Le Thanh
You drive Highway 19 via An Khe and Pleiku (about 250 km). Queue for the Vietnam exit procedure.
Exit Vietnam
As soon as you have the exit stamp, send us a clear photo of it. That lets our team check your new Vietnam e-visa straight away.
Enter Cambodia at O Yadav
If your passport is not visa-exempt for Cambodia, get the visa on arrival at the counter and pay in US dollars. Bring clean, undamaged notes. You wait briefly on the Cambodian side while we follow your Vietnam e-visa.
Re-enter Vietnam at Le Thanh
Show your new Vietnam e-visa, which must name Le Thanh as the entry gate. Before leaving, send us a photo of your new entry stamp so we can check it.
Drive back
The car leaves the border for Quy Nhon. If your e-visa or the queue takes longer, we agree the plan with you on the day.
Back in Quy Nhon
The car drives you back and drops you at your home or hotel.
To Laos
Quy Nhon – Bo Y
About 6 hours each way, back the same evening.
Pickup in Quy Nhon

Arrive at Bo Y
You drive Highway 19 to Pleiku, then north via Kon Tum (about 290 km). Queue for the Vietnam exit procedure.
Exit Vietnam
As soon as you have the exit stamp, send us a clear photo of it. That lets our team check your new Vietnam e-visa straight away.
Enter Laos at Phou Keua
Show your passport: you either enter visa-free (for example Russian, Korean, Japanese and ASEAN passports) or with the Lao visa we arranged before the trip. There is no visa on arrival here. You wait briefly on the Lao side while we follow your Vietnam e-visa.
Re-enter Vietnam at Bo Y
Show your new Vietnam e-visa, which must name Bo Y as the entry gate. Before leaving, send us a photo of your new entry stamp so we can check it.
Drive back
The car leaves the border for Quy Nhon. If your e-visa or the queue takes longer, we agree the plan with you on the day.
Back in Quy Nhon
The car drives you back and drops you at your home or hotel.
Times are typical, not guaranteed. Mountain roads, border queues and e-visa approval times vary, and the order of steps can change on an officer's instruction.

Route risks
- Going to Bo Y without a Lao visa when your passport is not exempt. Phou Keua has no visa on arrival.
- Applying for an e-visa that names a different gate, such as Moc Bai or Lao Bao
- Not bringing US dollars in clean notes for the Cambodian visa on arrival
- Leaving the border area before your new Vietnam e-visa is approved and ready to use

Crossing a border does not guarantee re-entry
Leaving Vietnam and coming back is a new entry. The border officer decides whether to admit you, every time. No trip organiser can promise that outcome, and we do not.
Your e-visa must name the right gate
A Vietnam e-visa is used at the border gate written on it. For these trips that is Le Thanh or Bo Y. Both are on the official list of e-visa border gates.
Rules depend on your nationality
Visa exemptions for Cambodia and Laos, and e-visa eligibility for Vietnam, all depend on your passport. Two travellers in the same car can face different requirements.

Frequently asked questions
What is a visa run?
A visa run is a short trip out of Vietnam and back in across a land border, so that you can enter again on a new visa or a new visa-exempt stay. It is a normal international exit and a normal new entry. Nothing about it is automatic: the border officer decides on entry each time.
Which border is closest to Quy Nhon?
Le Thanh, on the Cambodian border west of Pleiku, is the closest: about 250 km, or 4½–5 hours each way (pickup 04:00, back around 18:30). Bo Y, on the Lao border north-west of Kon Tum, is about 290 km, or about 6 hours each way (pickup 03:00, back around 19:30). Both are a long but doable same-day trip by private car.
Should I go to Cambodia or Laos?
It depends on your passport. At O Yadav (Cambodia) most nationalities can buy a visa on arrival. At Phou Keua (Laos) there is no visa on arrival and the Lao e-visa is not accepted, so the Laos route suits passports that are visa-exempt for Laos, such as Russian, South Korean, Japanese and ASEAN passports, or travellers with a Lao visa arranged before the trip, which we can do for you. Send us your nationality and we'll recommend one.
Can I use a Vietnam e-visa at Le Thanh and Bo Y?
Yes. Both Le Thanh (Gia Lai) and Bo Y are on the official list of border gates where foreigners can enter Vietnam with an e-visa, published on evisa.gov.vn. Your e-visa must name the gate you will use.
Can you guarantee I will be allowed back into Vietnam?
No. Nobody outside the Vietnamese authorities can. We organise the trip, explain the procedure and check your paperwork with you before departure, but the decision to admit you is made by the border officer when you arrive. Be wary of anyone who promises otherwise.
Is there a cheaper option than a private car?
You can reach Pleiku or Kon Tum by public bus and continue by local transport, but the connections to the border are slow and the timing is hard to make work in one day. A private car lets you leave early, wait at the border as long as needed and come back the same evening. Sharing the car with friends brings the cost per person down.
